Demucking System MobyDick

In the 26 years of its existence, DiTec has developed from a small trading company for diamond tools, construction equipment and power tools to a leading rental company in its region for construction equipment and construction machinery. In the course of a workshop extension in 2012 a modern washing plant was invested.

It takes up to 2 hours to remove coarse dirt from a dirty construction machine with a high-pressure lance, depending on the size of the machine and the contamination. The work at any time of the year is exhausting, dirty and not very pleasant. The coarse dirt washing machine does this job in a few minutes. The principle is simple and effective. With a lot of water and little pressure, the dirt is first softened and then washed off. The washing water is circulated. The sludge washed off with the addition of a flocculant settles and is conveyed by a scraper conveyor into a lateral container. Mr. Timo Betz, plant manager and authorized signatory of DiTec, sees other advantages of the system in addition to the time savings:

– Thanks to the principle of low pressure/high water volume, no oils and fats are removed from the machines washed off. This means that the sludge does not have to be disposed of at high cost.
– With an alternative hand wash, where the pump is fed from the same recycled water, the sludge can be washed away without the need for expensive disposal tools and small machines can be easily washed by hand.
– Thanks to water recycling, the consumption of fresh water is considerably reduced.

Despite the 9,200 successful washings since the commissioning of the plant, Mr. Betz sees potential for improvement. With the takeover of the Kobelco agency in 2018, DiTec increasingly rents out large excavators with a width of 300 cm. For these excavators, the plant is too narrow in terms of passage width. The volume of the recycling tank has also often only grown to a limited extent as a result of the sharp increase in the number of washing processes. DiTec is already considering a further expansion of its operations. It cannot be ruled out that the MobyDick will then become even bigger.
