MobyDick wheel washing system in the port of Jiangsu

Recently, the FRUTIGER branch in Changsha, China has put another MobyDick ConLine tyre washing system into operation in the port of Jiangsu. The 13-metre-long system is capable of cleaning even very heavy dirt during about 4 wheel rotations. Thanks to this advanced solution, the roads around the port area are now much less polluted, which also significantly reduces dust pollution during dry weather.

Automatic washing of construction and military vehicles

After an off-road operation, construction machinery or military vehicles are often heavily soiled. Before the next operation or technical inspection, a thorough cleaning is essential. Anyone who has ever washed a car in winter with a spray lance, can probably imagine what it means to have to do this work on one or more large construction machines. A very tedious manual work, which often takes hours and requires a lot of fresh water and aggressive chemicals.

Mobile wheel washing systems from the market leader

The installation of a wheel washing system is preferably done in the ground. This way the full pump capacity can be used for washing, as there is no need to pump the dirt up into an above-ground tank. Also, the passability and the winter safety are optimized. Nevertheless, there are situations in which a fully mobile system that is completely above ground, apart from a small pump sump, is better suited for use. This is especially the case if the system has to be moved frequently or if there are many pipes in the ground. For these cases FRUTIGER offers the MobyDick ConLine KIT models also in a mobile version with a length of four, six or eight meters. These systems can be installed within a few hours and require only a minimum of digging work. The picture shows a KIT Mobile 800 Wheel Washing System with a 50m3 Recycling Tank in operation on a construction site in England.

Automatic wheel washing systems are the future

The requirements for clean roads by the legislator and the population have been increasing steadily for years in developed countries. Pollution of public spaces is less and less tolerated.
In recent years, therefore, outdated passive drive-through basins made of concrete or steel, which no longer meet today’s cleaning requirements, have been increasingly replaced by automatic wheel washing systems. Thanks to active spraying and recycled wash water, the washing effect of a modern wheel washing system is considerably better and the carry-over of dirty water onto the public roads is avoided. In warm weather, this also considerably reduces dust formation. The photo shows how an old drive-through basin was replaced by a modern MobyDick wheel washing system with little effort.

MobyDick in the port of Lanshan

The port of Rizhao in Lanshan is a large bulk cargo port in the Chinese province of Shandong. It is located in the Yellow Sea, halfway between Rizhao and Lianyungang and next to Haizhou Bay. Day after day, countless trucks distribute the cargo arriving here all over China. Due to the bulk materials stored on the port area, the wheels and chassis of the vehicles are often heavily soiled, which in the past led to a constant pollution of the public roads around the port.

MobyDick in New Caledonia

As market leader and specialist for customized MobyDick wheel and coarse dirt washing systems FRUTIGER has received an inquiry from an important nickel mine in New Caledonia some months ago. The high requirements of the customer for the cleaning result and functionality of this not everyday system, were thereby a special challenge for the FRUTIGER engineers. Since strong winds and typhoons often occur at the place of operation, the plant is built to withstand wind forces of up to 250 km/h. Despite the unusual design and a site on the other side of the world, the washing system could be installed and commissioned within a few days and has been doing its job reliably ever since.

Tyre washing with excess width

A conventional MobyDick wheel washing system has a passage width of 2.80 meters. This means that all trucks approved for the public roads can pass through the installation without any restrictions. In certain situations, it is however advantageous to be able to wash larger vehicles such as wheel loaders, dumpers or special vehicles on the wheel washer. In these cases, FRUTIGER offers different models as well in wider versions. The photo shows a MobyDick ConLine KIT wheel washing system with a passage width of 3.20 which was recently installed for a leading waste disposal company in the region of Westfalen (Germany). The wheel wash line MobyDick ONE even allows passage widths of up to 5.40 metres and the system can also be driven over by tracked vehicles.

ConLine KIT Flex 600C-50P on the BMW test track

For the construction of the BMW test track in Sokolov, Czech Republic, which is currently one of the largest construction projects in the entire Czech Republic, a solution for keeping the public streets clean was evaluated by the responsible construction company last year.

The modern systems, each with a length of 6 metres and a recycling tank with 50m3 water volume, were recently installed and will now wash up to 250 vehicles daily for the next 3 years. With this solution, the accumulated dirt in the recycling tanks is discharged fully automatically by sludge scraper conveyors.
